Start with a day your puppy can understand
You do not need to teach every skill in the first week. Begin with predictable opportunities for toileting, food, play, and rest. Agree on simple household routines so your puppy gets similar guidance from everyone.
For potty training, take your puppy to the chosen spot frequently, including after waking, eating, and active play. Reward them promptly when they finish in the right place. Accidents are information about the routine; calmly clean up and adjust your supervision or timing.
- Choose a comfortable resting place away from constant activity.
- Keep suitable chew toys available and supervise their use.
- Notice early toilet signals, such as circling or focused sniffing.
- Write down which moments are hardest for your household.
Let small moments become lessons
Try a few repetitions of one easy skill when your puppy is comfortable and interested. Say their name once, then reward them for looking toward you. Later, a few steps following you in a safe space can become an introduction to walking together.
End while the interaction still feels manageable. If attention disappears or play becomes frantic, consider whether your puppy needs a toilet break, a quieter setting, or rest. A long session is not automatically a more useful one.
Introduce the world at your puppy’s pace
Socialization includes ordinary sounds, surfaces, people, handling, and places. Give your puppy gentle, manageable experiences with room to pause or move away. A comfortable observation from a distance can be worthwhile; meeting every dog or person is not the goal.
Ask your veterinarian which outings and environments are appropriate for your puppy’s vaccination status and local disease risks. If your puppy seems worried, stop the interaction and make the next introduction easier.
A plan built around your particular puppy
With LunaDog, a short behavior video and your puppy’s context become the starting point for AI analysis and a custom training plan. Share their age, daily routine, and the moment you want help with, such as settling after play or getting started on leash.
Use the lessons and follow-up chat to make practice clearer as your puppy learns. There is room for questions, adjustments, and another try tomorrow.
Some questions belong with a professional
Speak with your veterinarian about sudden changes, painful toileting, apparent illness, or persistent distress. Get qualified individual help for biting that creates a safety concern, intense fear, or difficulty being handled. A training app cannot assess your puppy’s physical health.
